At Garden City Microgreens we make a conscious effort to be as sustainable as possible when it comes to the production and sale of our products, so we can help reduce our carbon footprint and overall impact on the environment.
"Sustainability is important for a very simple, very straightforward reason: we cannot maintain our quality of life as human beings, the diversity of life on Earth, or Earth’s ecosystems unless we embrace it." - https://permaculturenews.org
ORGANIC FARMING PRACTICES
We always utilize organic farming practices when it comes to the growing of our microgreens. All of our greens are produced without the use of pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizers of any sort. We only use water and soil during the whole process to ensure that the product you are getting is as pure and clean as possible. At the end of the day, we want to offer a product to you and your families that we can be proud of, that is our promise to you.
BPA FREE & RECYCLED PACKAGING
All of our packaging come from recycled plastics that are BPA free and bio-degradable so they will not have a negative impact on your health or the health of our environment. It is important to stay true to our core beliefs, even if it costs slightly more to operate. We will never sacrifice our core values in order to make a quick buck.
DONATING OUR LEFTOVER GREENS
We make sure that none of our unused product goes to waste. If we have extra microgreens after a harvest, we will donate the leftovers to food pantries. Some sources claim that up to 50% of produce is thrown away each year in the US. That is an insane number and we want to do our best not to add to those shocking statistics. Please contact us if you know of an organization that can benefit from receiving our leftover microgreens.
COMPOSTING OUR USED SOIL
We work with farms in our area to ensure that all of our used soil is composted and put back into the earth where it belongs, ensuring it can be used again. It is important to put our soil back to use and not let it end up in a garbage dump or landfill.
All of our seeds for our microgreens are Non-GMO and Organic to ensure that we are producing quality microgreens that are good for your health and the health of your families.
In our indoor growing environment we use energy efficient LED light bulbs over fluorescents to help reduce electricity cost and our carbon footprint.
